19-year-old Ali Ismail Korkmaz, who had been beaten to death in Eskisehir, was buried yesterday in Ekinci Village Cemetary, in Antakya. People of Antakya wanted to hold a march for Korkmaz on that evening.
However, police attacked the protesters with tear gas and water cannon. Gendarme special operation forces also supported the intervention. Yilmaz Ozturk, who was hit on the head by a gas bomb shell during the attack, was severely injured and taken to a hospital.
Police attacked the protesters gathered on Kennedy and Tunali Hilmi streets in Ankara, alleging that they ‘blocked the traffic on the street’.
