We are Calling Out to the Government:
Release Our Friends,
Stop the Police Cruelty, Respect the Law!
As is known, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) has been terrorizing the country for a period of over one month with its practices that violate the laws.

The design which the government wills to implement in Taksim is suspended by a court order and the legitimacy of the social resistance of the Taksim Solidarity that includes our chambers has been confirmed by the jurisdiction. The Gezi Park which was opened to public use by the Governor of İstanbul, Chief of Police and the Mayor was closed again to the public in the afternoon.

The constituents of the Taksim Solidarity who were willing to go and announce the court order in the Gezi Park were restrained in İstiklal Street, the police attacked the people once again and many people from all the labor and trade bodies, non-governmental organizations, political party representatives and administratives that constitute the Taksim Solidarity were taken into custody. The legal proceedings were not initiated throughout yesterday evening and night, and were allowed to date in an arbitrary manner.
Among our friends who were taken into custudy, there are the Secretary of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Architects and Engineers (TMMOB) Istanbul Provincial Coordination Committee and 2nd President of the TMMOB Mechanical Engineers Istanbul Branch Süleyman Solmaz, President of the TMMOB Electrical Engineers Istanbul Branch Beyza Metin, 2nd President of the TMMOB Istanbul Chamber of Architects Branch Sabri Orcan, Istanbul Branch Secretary of the TMMOB Chamber of Urban Planners Akif Burak Atlar, Assistant Secretary of the Branch Sezi Toprakçı and Architect Mücella Yapıcı.

The government should be aware that no pressure can prevent the TMMOB and our chambers from standing up for the scientific and technical requirements of engineering, architecture and urban planning, and acting accordingly.

We, as the the Heads of the Executive Boards of the chambers affiliated with TMMOB, are warning the government. Stop the unlawful practices that are violating the Constitution, stop the detentions and police terror, release our friends and everyone in custody, and obey the law!
